If your towbar doesn't have a safety eyelet,
this safety clamp for the trailer breakaway cable is the ideal alternative.
Medium-weight trailers and caravans are usually fitted with over-run brake systems. For trailers of this kind, a breakaway cable between the towing vehicle and trailer braking device is a legal requirement, which actuates the trailer brake system in the event of detachment to bring the trailer to a stop.
Mount the safety clamp on the ball neck of the towbar and then fasten the breakaway cable to it. When inserted into the clamp, the cable cannot slip over the ball head.
The safety clamp is not suitable for use with 2-hole and 4-hole towing brackets.
Rameder tip:
Often the breakaway cable is only looped around the ball neck of the towbar. We do not recommend this method because the cable can slip over the ball neck. This method is also prohibited by law in the Netherlands, for example. We therefore recommend that you familiarize yourself with the local applicable regulations concerning trailer safety before travelling abroad with a trailer.
